Missing Inuit Children of Residential Schools

Under the direction of the Director of Missing Inuit Children, Gayle Gruben of Residential Schools and working collaboratively with the Community Liaison & Researchers - drafting plans for the purpose of data collection on missing children and unmarked burial sites at known Residential schools in Manitoba and will research and analyze data and make decisions about the information that is shared.

  • Conducting qualitative research with Inuit communities and families to verify data with information provided by family members and Inuit residential school survivors
  • Conducting primary and secondary records research and communicating with the source document holders; i.e., governments, National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, historical groups, archives, provinces/territories.
  • Tracking all inquiries and search queries that have been conducted on behalf of family members
  • Assembling and/or gathering information into a written report.
  • Performing quality control activities including reviewing and editing data to ensure accuracy
